Boost / Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor, commonly known as a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) or Boost pressure sensor ,is a highly sensitive electronic component essential for forced-induction (turbocharged or supercharged) engines. This 4-terminal DELPHI sensor continuously measures the absolute pressure inside the intake manifold, operating accurately within a range of up to 300 kPa . It converts this physical pressure into a precise electrical signal sent to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU utilizes this data to calculate air density, adjust fuel injection, and control the turbocharger's wastegate to optimize performance and prevent engine-damaging overboost conditions. Carefully inspect all vacuum hoses and intercooler piping connected to the intake manifold. A cracked, leaking, or disconnected hose will cause the sensor to read incorrectly, often mimicking a failed sensor.
Inspect the 4-terminal electrical connector and wiring harness for oil contamination, corrosion, or loose pins .
Ensure the mounting surface on the intake manifold is clean and the sensor's O-ring seals perfectly to prevent boost leaks.
