Electromotive throttle valve:

In this type of throttle, the throttle valve is mechanically linked to the accelerator pedal. The angle of the valve is monitored by the throttle electronics,

which remain in constant communication with the engine management system. The resulting data is compared in real time with a range of information from other onboard sensors.

The engine management system calculates the optimum throttle position in terms of both fuel economy and emissions. This information is then fed back to the throttle electronics, which adjust the throttle angle as required.

Electronic throttle valves:

The electronic accelerator’s pulse and all other available data from the engine management system’s sensors are permanently calibrated.

The optimum throttle valve position is calculated from this information. The electronic throttle valve is only activated by the control signal from the engine management system.

Air flap actuator:

The electric actuator with integrated position sensor and optional integrated electronics allows intake manifold throttles or turbo charge guide vanes for example to be continuously adjusted.

Its more precise control means that it is taking the place of standard pneumatic drives which can no longer satisfy the more stringent requirements.
