Before replacing the camshaft position sensor:

Inspect the 3-terminal oval electrical connector and wiring harness for oil saturation, corrosion, or broken wires . Wiring issues often mimic a failed sensor.
Ensure the mounting surface on the engine block is perfectly clean. Debris can prevent the sensor from seating properly, altering the air gap between the sensor and the reluctor wheel.
Always clear old fault codes from the ECU using an OBD-II scanner after installing the new sensor.
